Meet the Team

Quite simply, we are striving to be your first choice for carpentry & joinery services in the Horsham area which is why we continue to invest in training & development for our valued team. We were very pleased to be awarded "Investors in People" in October 2008 and DuPont Quality Network offering 10 year Corian warranties in June 2009. Martin-Leadbeater

Being the founder & managing director of Martin Leadbeater Carpentry & Joinery, I continue to be very hands on in the day to day running of the company. I was born & raised in Horsham and after leaving Forest Boys School, I was offered a valuable apprenticeship placement at James Longley - with their training & day release to Crawley College I achieved my advanced craft City & Guilds and NVQ level 3 in Carpentry & Joinery.

In an effort to drive the business onwards & upwards, I successfully achieved a Chartered Institute of Building level 4 Diploma in Site Management. I have completed various other training courses including PASMA (for the safe erection of our tower scaffolding), IPAF (allowing us to safely use mobile access equipment to get to those hard to reach places!), First Aid at Work

For fun, I enjoy a variety of activities mainly centred around being outside, keeping fit & going fast! I have a passion for snowboarding & mountain biking. I also enjoy racing my twin engine pro-kart around the circuit & follow Formula One. When I'm not working or doing any of the above, I can be found at the gym or spending time doing some other fun stuff with my wife, Faye (who incidentally is also part of Team Leadbeater!)

Both myself & Chris have recently qualified as locksmiths and are pleased to announce that we are able to offer a full 24 hour mobile locksmith service in addition to the carpentry & joinery services we currently offer. Look out for the silver & green 'Leadbeater Locks' van out & about.

Chris-Leaver

Having spent the grand total of two days at Collyers to decide it was not for me, I joined Martin as his first apprentice (and employee for that matter!) back in 1998, I achieved my NVQ level 3 in carpentry & joinery in 2001.

I was given the responsibilty of training my own apprentice, Lloyd, who last year qualified as a carpenter to NVQ level 3.

In my spare time I enjoy mountain biking, snowboarding, going to the gym and spending time with my wife Suze. We're looking forward to the birth of our first child in November.

Faye-Leadbeater

I moved from the Isle of Wight to Horsham at 8 years old and attended Southwater primary school, Millais and Collyers to complete my A levels. My working life started “With the Woolwich” in Horsham where I worked as the customer service & cash manager. My desire to see the world led me to fly as cabin crew, short haul for Caledonian Airways then long haul for Virgin Atlantic for 3 years. Somewhere in the middle there I met Martin whilst teaching Guides & Scouts to kayak at Southwater. Due to continued growth, Leadbeater Joinery was in need of someone to run the office function and here I am! I have been the (hopefully) friendly voice at the end of the phone since December 2003

My free time is packed full of various activities – snowboarding being my big love, following closely by mountain biking, circuit training & going to the gym, spending time with family & friends and reading. Oh & I’m also managing to fit in studying to become a personal trainer

Dave-Darkins

Dave joined the team 2 years ago with a wealth of decorating experience. He gives our projects the finishing touch so you don't have to get your own paintbrush out!

Ben-Attwell

Ben is the newest member of the team having joined us in March as a joinery apprentice. He will be workshop based for most of the week with one day at Central Sussex College in Crawley learning the theory required to qualify as a joiner.
